Official U.S. Navy video of a 2015 UFO encounter, taken aboard the USS Omaha while it was off the coast of San Diego, California. As many as 9 objects were detected swarming the ship at speeds close to 160mph (257kph).

On November 14, 2004, fighter pilot Commander David Fravor of the USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group investigated radar indications of a possible target off the coast of southern California. Unusual aircraft had been tracked two weeks prior to the incident. The aircraft would appear at 80,000 feet before descending rapidly toward the sea, and stopping at 20,000 feet and hovering. Estimated that the object was about forty feet long. Military personnel witnessed the object for about 5 minutes. A second wave of fighters, including pilot Lieutenant Commander Chad Underwood, took off from Nimitz to investigate. A fighter equipped with an advanced infrared camera (FLIR) recorded the FLIR video, and coined the description "Tic Tac" to describe the infrared image
